How much roof space do I need

A typical solar panel is approximately 1.5 meters long and 1meter wide. They vary in power from 150 Watt to 300W. There will be a number of different ways to fit a solar system on your roof.

The only guaranteed way is to have your Installer measure it up for you.

As a general rule you will need at a minimum the following

  • 1.5kw - 10sqm or 6 meter long by 1.6 meters high

  • 2kw - 13.5sqm or 8m by 1.6 meters high

  • 3kw - 20sqm or 12m long by 1.6m or 6m long by 3.2 meters high (can also be split on different sides of the roof)

  • 4kw - 27sqm or 8m long by 3.2m high (can also be split on different sides of the roof)

  • 5kw - 34sqm or 10m long by 3.2 meters high
